What riding here is like

Same window as the rest of Ceará: trades July to January, most consistent August to December.

Wind fills around 11am and settles from 1pm to 5pm. Outside that, rain and light wind. The difference is the water: a point break in front of the beach, a long left when swell is in, messier sea than Cumbuco. Great if you already ride upwind and want kite waves. Poor as a first-ever spot: the shorebreak punishes launches and landings. Beginners train on Taíba lagoon a few kilometres from the village, shallow and flat. Fewer people on the water than Cumbuco; small village, modest setup.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to kitesurf in Taíba?

The best season in Taíba runs from June to December, with up to 100% kiteable days at the peak.

Is Taíba good for beginners?

Taíba suits riders who already stay upwind: mixed water. Beginners will find better conditions at other spots in the region.

How do I get to Taíba?

Fortaleza airport (FOR), about 70 to 75 km, a 1 to 1h30 drive on the CE-085. Transfer through your guesthouse or school is the usual route. A rental car makes sense if you want to bounce between Taíba, Cumbuco and Paracuru on the same trip.

What to do in Taíba when there is no wind?

Surf the point in the morning before the wind fills in: same break, no kite. SUP on the lagoon, walk to the lighthouse and lookout, or hop to Paracuru in about 30 minutes. Fortaleza is about an hour if you want the city.
