When to kitesurf in Le Morne
Compare all twelve months using the share of historically kiteable days.
The season is austral winter: May to October, with June to September the core of the southeast trades. Wind usually blows all day, without the thermal wait that defines the Caribbean. Morning sessions are on. November to April is summer: hot, humid, light wind and cyclone risk. Few people come to kite then. Le Morne is three spots in one. The inner lagoon, shallow and reef-protected, is where you learn and drill freestyle. The Kite Lagoon is more open and windier. One Eye is the reef wave outside: a perfect left, shallow, over coral and current, with a reputation for hurting unprepared riders. Do not improvise. A rescue boat, reef booties and a local briefing are not luxuries.
