When to kitesurf in Jericoacoara

Trade winds July to January. August through December is the heart of the season, wind nearly every day. It typically fills late morning and holds strong from 1pm to 5:30pm, dying near sunset. February brings rain and lottery wind; March to June is real low season. The sea in front of the village is open and messy, with shorebreak and side current: rideable, but weak for a first week of lessons. Use Jeri as a base: Preá is 12 km (shallow, flatter), Guriú on the other side, Lagoa do Paraíso and Azul for flat water. High season packs the water and the air; peaks in July and around Christmas/New Year.
