What the season feels like

The calendar is the opposite of Northeast Brazil: the best wind is usually September through March, with spring and summer at the core. Fronts and sea breezes stack; the day-to-day is less monotonous than Ceará trade winds, so a forecast app actually matters. Praia do Rosa and greater Imbituba mix open ocean with quick access to the Ibiraquera lagoons — flatter water for freestyle and progression. Beginners do well on the lagoons with a school; on the ocean expect side-shore to onshore, chop, and usable waves on swell days. The crowd is mixed: kite trips, surf trips, and Florianópolis weekenders.
