What the season feels like
Trade winds run July to January, with the most reliable core August to December. Wind is side-shore from the right (east): light early, fills around 10-11am, and the best window is usually 1pm to 5pm. It drops fast after sunset. February to June is rain and patchy wind; many schools scale back. In front of the village the sea is choppy; low tide calms the shore, high tide adds chop and shorebreak. For flat water, the classic is a downwinder to Cauípe Lagoon, about 7 km west. Arrange pickup first. You return by car or buggy.
