When to kitesurf in Cape Town
Compare all twelve months using the share of historically kiteable days.
Season runs November to March, southern-hemisphere summer, peaking December to February. The wind is the southeaster locals call the Cape Doctor: it fills in the afternoon, blows hard, and vanishes for days when the pressure shifts. This is not everyday wind like Ceará. It comes in blocks, and your plans need two or three dead days of slack. Blouberg is the stage: waves out front, a heavy shorebreak on the way in, Table Mountain behind. Strong wind means small kites. The Atlantic is cold even in summer: 4/3 wetsuit, no argument. Not a first-week spot. People who learn nearby usually go to Langebaan, about 1h to 1h30 north, a shallow flat lagoon. High season is packed. Blouberg hosts the Red Bull King of the Air.
